Gulyás Erhard
Erhard Handmade Instruments

My name is Erhard Gulyás. My passion for musical instruments revealed itself already in my early childhood. I began my instrumental studies in 1991 at the Béla Bartók Music School in Békéscsaba, majoring in bass guitar, and later switched to electric guitar, which I learned to play both autodidactically and with the help of a private teacher. Over the course of my 25-year musical career, nearly 130 guitars have passed through my hands, providing a solid foundation of knowledge for my later work in instrument making—both in terms of material understanding and sound shaping.
In 2010, I launched the Erhard Handmade Instruments brand. In 2012, I had the opportunity to learn the craft of violin making from silver-wreath master Péter Temesvári. The knowledge I gained under his mentorship proved to be of fundamental importance not only in building acoustic and archtop guitars, but it also had a profound, formative effect on my overall approach to instrument making. Thanks to this, my profile has expanded beyond electric guitars and bass guitars to include carved-top (archtop) instruments, A5 and F5 mandolins, as well as various acoustic guitars.
Erhard Handmade Instruments embody passionate craftsmanship, artistic precision, and the pursuit of perfection in both sound and appearance, while retaining the unique character of hand-made work.
Artists using Erhard instruments – among others – include: Zsolt Benkő, Eleanor Young, György Ferenczi (1st Pest Rackák), Gábor Heincz "Biga," Róbert Hrutka, Szabolcs Kölcsey, András Lovasi, Dániel Lugosi (Polytrip, Pollyna), Misi Mező (Magna Cum Laude), Péter Modos, András Petruska, Attila Szabó (Csík Band), Tamás Verók (Margaret Island).
