My name is Tamás Prieger. I started working with guitars at the age of 16—at first just upgrading and repairing my own, and later those of my friends and older guitarist acquaintances. In the early 1990s, I worked for a year in a furniture carpenter’s workshop in Vienna, which turned out to be a strong foundation for my later work. I also spent a year and a half in the United States and Canada, where I had the chance to visit countless music stores from Detroit to Miami. On several occasions, I was also able to visit a master guitar maker, which was a great inspiration for me.
In 2005, I built my first guitar, and since then nearly 60 instruments have been completed in my workshop. I like to preserve the natural colors and structure of wood, and I try to avoid the common, well-known contours. At the moment, 9 instruments are being built in parallel, each at a different stage of completion. Soon, the Route 51 showroom and music store will also feature several Prieger guitars.
