I am Ferenc Nádasi (SZAKI), the dreamer of SHG Guitars. Two ingredients: wood and music. These are the main ingredients of SHG. The first was given to me by my grandfather, who was a respected woodcarver and master carpenter. The second came naturally: I started playing the guitar at age 14. I tried out many styles, but my love for grunge never waned. Eventually, this passion led me to start making instruments.
I've been building guitars since 2013. I've always respected traditional designs, but at the same time I like to "rebel" against them a bit. After all, why shouldn't a stratocaster get a feature that isn’t typical, but improves the sound and playing experience? For me, this duality is the most exciting and challenging aspect of instrument making: preserving tradition and keeping up with new trends and inventions. However, the most important thing is that everyone who comes to me leaves with a comfortable, professional instrument.
Obviously, it's worth keeping your instrument not only in your hands but also in good condition. However, many people misunderstand which guitars deserve care. From my perspective, it's not about how much your instrument worth, but how important to you! That's why I repair and maintain guitars in any price range, typically acoustic-, electric- and bass guitars, but sometimes banjos, mandolins, ukuleles and other stringed instruments as well.
I started working as a cabinetmaker at the age of 18. I designed, built, painted and varnished furniture. I transferred this knowledge into Szaki Handmade Guitars (now you know what SHG stands for!), which I eventually grew to love so much that after 10 years I switched to full-time. Most of my work is made by hand and with small machines, relying on CNC only on rare occasions. Even then I lean on my elbows! Jokes aside, this is why every SHG guitar is unique. These instruments don't come off the factory assembly line. There are months of hard and honest work behind each piece.
