First and foremost, The Amp is a 50W guitar amplifier. The preamp is built around a single 12AX7 running at high voltage in a Class A discrete circuit. The tube preamp responds to the guitar exactly like any tube amplifier, creating those harmonics and beautiful, hi-fi sounds that tubes are known for. Alongside the tube EQ, it features built-in reverb and tremolo effects, making The Amp usable as a grab-and-go amplifier. It has built-in footswitches to bypass the effects. The Class D power section delivers 50 watts into 8 ohms or 100 watts into 4 ohms. The speaker output's combo Speakon jack accommodates either a standard 1/4” connection or a locking Speakon connector for enhanced security.
The Amp features a built-in headphone amplifier that sounds just like the speaker output. This is perfect for practicing, testing pedals, or when you need quiet playing. The amplifier can operate without a speaker connected, making it convenient to place on a pedalboard along with other pedals. The amp features a universal IEC input. It can operate between 100 and 260 VAC. No matter where you are on Earth, it can be plugged into a power outlet and used without additional power supplies.
The internal XLR output provides a balanced line output. There is no modeling or simulation, no menus or presets. It is very simple, allowing you to easily get great sounds from The Amp’s tube preamp and use it as a front-end for a modeling system, a recording setup, or live on stage.
The Amp also features a "pedal-level" output, allowing it to be used as a front-end for a pedalboard or as an "amp-like" effect at the back of the board. Nothing replaces the perfect harmony between a magnetic guitar pickup and the first stage of a tube amplifier, which is often what is missing from modern pedalboards. Using The Amp before the effects chain adds harmonic and tube-like musicality to the entire signal chain, starting right where it matters most: between the guitar pickup and the tube.
Using The Amp further down the signal chain creates unique sonic possibilities. It works well with pedals and can add extra EQ or reverb to your existing amplifier. The Amp can drive the input of your amplifier as an extra tube gain stage. It can be used as a backup for a vintage amp in need of repair, or instead of poor backline gear while on tour. Weighing 2.5 kilograms and offering a wide variety of uses, this amplifier could be your new best friend.
